Doing Business with the Forest Preserve District

While Forest Preserve District of DuPage County employees perform most of the maintenance and operation of District land and facilities, the District may employ contractors for large construction or restoration projects.

The Forest Preserve District purchases required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, the DuPage County Purchasing Ordinance, related resolutions of the Board of Commissioners and administrative policies. The District makes requirements for purchases under $20,000 in accordance with established procedures for small-dollar purchases and informal quotations. For purchases over $20,000, it advertises formal bid announcements in local newspapers and may also list them in the Current Bid and Proposal Announcements section below.

When a supplier is aware of a solicitation, it should contact the office listed on the announcement to request a bid document. The Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

Current Bid and Proposal Announcements

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bids and proposals on the following projects.

Off-Leash Dog Area Improvements at Oldfield Oaks Forest Preserve

Bid Due: 2016-04-08, 9 a.m.

Bid Open: 2016-04-08, 9:05 a.m.

Sealed bids will be received at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois, 60189-8761 until 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 and will be publicly opened at that time and location, for a project titled "Off-Leash Dog Area Improvements at Oldfield Oaks Forest Preserve." The bids must be accompanied by a 10% bid security. The project consists of the construction of an off-leash dog area and parking lot at Oldfield Oaks Forest Preserve in Darien, Illinois. Major components of work, including alternates, are construction of a 20,015 SF asphalt parking lot; 1,010 LF of concrete curb; approximately 3,800 CY of miscellaneous earthwork; 2,090 LF of 10’ wide limestone screenings trails; 4,580 SF of concrete paving; tapping into water main, installation of site water utilities and drinking fountain; stormwater conveyance systems; fabrication of District standard structures; and 2,647 LF of woven wire and chain link fence and gates. Additional site work includes installation of 2,575 LF of erosion control barrier (compost sock), preparation for seeding the site, 5.7 acres of native seeding, 4.9 acres of turf seeding and installation of trees and shrubs.   

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

A hard copy will be available after Monday at the main office, at the above address between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Bid envelopes may be picked up at the Visitor Services desk at the main office and will also be made available at the pre-bid meeting. The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities. The Project Manager’s estimate, including alternates, is approximately $726,000.
