Doing Business with the Forest Preserve District

While Forest Preserve District of DuPage County employees perform most of the maintenance and operation of District land and facilities, the District may employ contractors for large construction or restoration projects.

The Forest Preserve District purchases required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, the DuPage County Purchasing Ordinance, related resolutions of the Board of Commissioners and administrative policies. The District makes requirements for purchases under $20,000 in accordance with established procedures for small-dollar purchases and informal quotations. For purchases over $20,000, it advertises formal bid announcements in local newspapers and may also list them in the Current Bid and Proposal Announcements section below.

When a supplier is aware of a solicitation, it should contact the office listed on the announcement to request a bid document. The Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bids and proposals on the following projects.

INVITATION TO BID FOR INDOOR RESTROOM IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT AT DANADA HOUSE, WHEATON, ILLINOIS.

Invitation to bid
Sealed bids for a project titled "Invitation to Bid for Indoor Restroom Improvements Project at Danada House, Wheaton, Illinois” will be received at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, P.O. Box 5000, Wheaton, IL 60189-5000 (mailing address), 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL 60189-8761 (physical address) until 10 a.m. on Nov. 21, 2014. The Contractor shall provide all labor, material and equipment to demolish the existing restroom facilities and construct the proposed improvements at the Danada House, 3S501 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois 60189, as specified. Bids must be accompanied by a 10% bid security.

Bid specifications, plans and bid forms are available here. Bids must be submitted in the District supplied envelope. Envelopes will be supplied at the mandatory pre-bid onsite meeting. An awardee must submit all required documentation including, but not limited to, the required insurance, Prevailing Wage Act documentation, subcontractor’s list, performance and payment bonds per the Invitation to Bid. The District and the Friends of Danada reserve the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities. This solicitation does not commit the District or the Friends of Danada to award a contract, to pay any cost incurred in the preparation of a bid or to procure or contract for the articles of goods or services. The District and the Friends of Danada reserve the right to cancel in part or in its entirety these bids if it is in the best interest of the District to do so.

INVITATION TO BID FOR CONVERSION OF FIVE GASOLINE PICKUP TRUCKS TO BIFUEL COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS AND GASOLINE

Sealed bids will be received at the Fleet Services facility of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 881 W St. Charles Road, Lombard, Illinois 60148 until 9 a.m. CST on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 for a project titled "Invitation to Bid for Conversion of Five Gasoline Pickup Trucks to Bifuel Compressed Natural Gas and Gasoline."

Bid specifications, and bid forms may be obtained from the above address between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Any questions should be directed to Mike Webster at (630) 580-7100. INVITATION TO BID FOR SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF MUTT MITTS

Sealed bids for a project titled "Invitation to Bid: Bid Proposal and Specifications for the Supply and Delivery of Mutt Mitts" will be received at District Headquarters, P.O. Box 5000, Wheaton, IL 60189-5000 (mailing address), 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, IL 60189-8761 (physical address) until 10 a.m. on Nov. 19, 2014. 

Components of the bid involve the Contractor to provide all labor, material and equipment to supply and deliver of 800 count cases of Mutt Mitts® Hangable Header with 2-Ply construction meeting specifications, per the Invitation to bid.

PROJECT PREVIEW FOR OAK MEADOWS PRESERVE IMPROVEMENTS

From Nov. 10 - 21, 2014 all interested contractors are invited to a preview of the upcoming Oak Meadows Preserve Improvements project located at 900 N. Wood Dale Road in Addison, IL. During this time, contractors will be allowed access to the 288-acre project site, and have access to the draft plans and specifications for the $13-$16 million (est.) project. The District intends to release the project for an open public bid in Feb. 2015.

The project includes, but is not limited to, reconstruction of the golf course reducing the layout from 27-holes to 18-holes along with construction of associated golf course infrastructure (irrigation, cart paths, etc.), relocation/removal of bridges over Salt Creek along with construction of bridge abutments, water quality improvements within Salt Creek including construction of a bypass channel and associated dewatering activities, removal of two low-head dams within Salt Creek, installation of new drainage pipes, construction of one irrigation pump house, demolition of various structures, tree removals and installation of wetland/native vegetation along with associated vegetative maintenance.

Due to the large scope and the varying specializations required for construction, the intent of this preview is to introduce contractors to the project and solicit comments and/or questions regarding the draft plans and specifications. The information gathered from interested contractors will assist the District in finalizing construction documents in anticipation of the upcoming February open bid. Please note that this project is not being publicly bid at this time.

To participate in the project preview, contractors must contact Ed Stevenson, Director of Golf Operations at (630) 451-3434 to reserve a date and time for accessing the site. A digital download of the draft plans and specifications will be provided to contractors after confirmation of the site visit reservation. Questions and/or comments from contractors regarding the draft plans and specifications will be directed to the District’s project consultants until Dec. 15, 2014. Contact information for the consultants will be included as part of digital download of the draft plans and specifications.
