Doing Business with the Forest Preserve District

While Forest Preserve District of DuPage County employees perform most of the maintenance and operation of District land and facilities, the District may employ contractors for large construction or restoration projects.

The Forest Preserve District purchases required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, the DuPage County Purchasing Ordinance, related resolutions of the Board of Commissioners and administrative policies. The District makes requirements for purchases under $20,000 in accordance with established procedures for small-dollar purchases and informal quotations. For purchases over $20,000, it advertises formal bid announcements in local newspapers and may also list them in the Current Bid and Proposal Announcements section below.

When a supplier is aware of a solicitation, it should contact the office listed on the announcement to request a bid document. The Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bids and proposals on the following projects.

Districtwide Small Structures Project

Bid Due: 2015-02-11, 2 p.m.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bid proposals for the Districtwide Small Structures Project. Main components of work, including alternates, consist of constructing a 50-person picnic shelter (32 feet by 44 feet wide and 1,408 square feet) and seat walls and installing two grills. Work will also include running new electric service from the existing flush washroom to the picnic shelter (approximately 165 linear feet). Site work includes installing a concrete slab for the shelter (approximately 2,500 square feet) and reinforced concrete entry path (350 square feet), miscellaneous earthwork, constructing an infiltration trench and level spreader system, installing a 4-inch drain tile, installing an erosion control barrier (460 linear feet), seeding 0.9 acres of turf and installing an erosion control blanket (approximately 2,100 square yards). The picnic shelter and associated site work will be installed at Hidden Lake Forest Preserve in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Bid documents may be examined and purchased on or after Jan. 23, 2015, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m, at the District’s headquarters at 3S580 Naperville Road in Wheaton, Illinois 60189. A nonrefundable payment of $20 is required for purchase of each set of bid documents on CD-ROM. A nonmandatory pre-bid meeting for interested contractors is scheduled on Jan. 30, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the District’s headquarters board room.

Bids are due on Feb. 11, 2015 at 2 p.m. and must be accompanied by a 10 percent bid security. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on March 3, 2015. Direct questions to Project Planner Jon Melin at (630) 462-8709. The engineer’s base bid estimate is $150,000.
