Ben Fuller House Interpretive Center and Parking Lot Lighting

Sealed bids will be received at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3 South 580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois, 60189-8761 until 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2015 and will be publicly opened at that time and location, for a project titled "Ben Fuller House Interpretive Center and Parking Lot Lighting." The bids must be accompanied by a 10% bid security. The scope of work includes the renovation of a 1082 sf (2) story 1840’s farmhouse and construction of a 503 sf (1) story addition with related site work, lighting and utilities. The first floor will be built out for use as an interpretive center. Outdoor lighting of the pathways around the house and adjacent parking lot include (5) 25’ tall LED street lights, (5) 14’ tall decorative LED area lights with custom stone bases, (3) pole mounted flood lights, approx. 1,000 LF of 2” PVC conduit with 3 flexible fiber inner ducts of which 700’ will be directionally bored and 300’ trenched in, and approx. 2,400’ new wiring and 20’ sleeving under new pavement. New utilities to the house include 340’ water main, 305’ of 1½” water service, storm and sanitary sewer, electric, communications and gas. Contractor qualifications include general contractor IDOT prequalification and IDOT prequalification for the electrical contractor performing work within the York Rd. right-of-way. Some of the work will be bid as alternates. Selection of alternates will be based upon available funds.
A MANDATORY pre-bid meeting will be held at 3803 S. York Rd, Oak Brook, IL 60523 (parking lot at intersection of York and Spring Rds.) on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
Plans, specifications, and bid forms may be downloaded here. An office copy is available for viewing at the above address between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. This project is subject to the Prevailing Wage Act. Minority and Female business enterprises are encouraged to submit bids on the project and successful contract bidders are encouraged to utilize Minority and Female business enterprises as subcontractors for supplies, equipment, services and construction. The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities. The construction estimate is $773,000.
