Doing Business with the Forest Preserve District

While Forest Preserve District of DuPage County employees perform most of the maintenance and operation of District land and facilities, the District may employ contractors for large construction or restoration projects.

The Forest Preserve District purchases required goods and services in conformance with Illinois state law, the DuPage County Purchasing Ordinance, related resolutions of the Board of Commissioners and administrative policies. The District makes requirements for purchases under $20,000 in accordance with established procedures for small-dollar purchases and informal quotations. For purchases over $20,000, it advertises formal bid announcements in local newspapers and may also list them in the Current Bid and Proposal Announcements section below.

When a supplier is aware of a solicitation, it should contact the office listed on the announcement to request a bid document. The Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

Current Bid and Proposal Announcements

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is currently seeking bids and proposals on the following projects.

District Wide BMP Mitigation ‒ Phase III

Bid Due: 2016-03-04, 2 p.m.

Bid Open: 2016-03-04, 2 p.m.

Sealed bids will be received at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois, 60189-8761 until 2 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016 and will be publicly opened at that time and location, for a project titled "District Wide BMP Mitigation – Phase III." The bids must be accompanied by a 10% bid security. The scope of work involves the vegetation management at 11 separate mitigation areas for recently completed projects during the 2016 and 2017 growing seasons. The sites are located at Blackwell (2 sites), Danada (2 sites), East Branch, Hawk Hollow, Herrick Lake, Mayslake, Songbird Slough, Timber Ridge and Waterfall Glen forest preserves. Main components of work, including alternates, consist of selective herbicide, selective mowing, field mowing and prescribed burning to control weedy, non-native and invasive species. Additional items include interseeding, bare earth seeding for coverage and installation of perennial plugs as deemed necessary.   

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the main office of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

Bid envelopes may be picked up at the Visitor Services desk at the main office and will also be made available at the pre-bid meeting. The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities. The project manager’s estimate is approximately $267,000.
