Linda Painter, Commissioner - District 3
Commissioner Linda Painter is an experienced member of politically affiliated organizations, neighborhood committees and a conservation-based agency in DuPage County and as a candidate has received the endorsement of many. She looks forward to serving the citizens of DuPage County as a dedicated board member open to new ideas.
Painter began attending Forest Preserve District board meetings a few years ago as a patron and neighbor of Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve in Darien. She kept informed of projects and resolutions, asking the board to consider the completion of a trail extension and the addition of picnic tables and benches at Waterfall Glen.
A pediatric nurse, Painter is an advocate of the physical, psychological and emotional benefits that the outdoors and unstructured play provide children. She will work to promote conservation-, education- and recreation-related programs for youngsters through improved communication with DuPage County residents and access to forest preserves for people with disabilities, which is one of her biggest objectives.
Painter believes that the county’s open spaces contribute to everyone’s quality of life and that the District’s acquisition of valuable land and restoration of natural resources will benefit not only today’s visitors but also future generations. To that end, she is a proponent for educating constituents about caring for forest preserves and the environment.
Although Commissioner Painter acknowledges that the board faces many issues, above all, she believes that the District must employ the highest standards to maintain its fiscal integrity and guarantee high-quality services in forest preserves for years to come.
Linda Painter is an 18-year resident of DuPage County. She lives with her husband in Hinsdale and is mother to three grown children. She is an outdoorswoman who enjoys walking her dogs in DuPage forest preserves, especially at Waterfall Glen.
