Salt Creek Greenway currently stands as an undeveloped, natural area providing an important storm-water retention function for the community. The preserve is an immature floodplain forest along Salt Creek, hosting elm, boxelder, cottonwood and ash species.

While Salt Creek Greenway is largely undeveloped, the Regional Trail system accesses some portions of the preserve.
