Great Horned Owl
The great horned owl is dark brown or gray with a white chest. It has large yellow eyes and ear tufts that look like horns. The great horned owl is the largest owl in the DuPage forest preserves.

Did You Know?
The great horned owl, like other owls, eats its prey whole. It coughs up bones and parts, such as feathers, fur, scales and teeth it cannot digest as oval-shaped pellets.
