Description
Volunteering as a Docent involves talking with the public about Danada Equestrian Center. Docents respond to questions and requests for information from the public.

Basic Responsibilities*

  • Greet and assist facility visitors and staff.Take phone messages.

  • Answer questions from facility visitors.

  • Provide tours to facility visitors.

  • Clean, re-hang and update educational display kits.
  • Maintain the appearance of the Volunteer Lounge and Trailer. Clean the Volunteer Lounge and Trailer bathroom. Vacuum the Volunteer Lounge and Trailer.

Additional Requirements

  • Complete the District volunteer application process.
  • Volunteer Horse-care Provider for one year, or equivalent training through Danada.

Volunteer Horse-Care Provider

Description
Horse-care providers have a great opportunity to care for and learn more about their favorite creatures while they volunteer. They also play a major role in the equestrian center’s annual celebration of the horse, the Danada Fall Festival.

Basic Responsibilities*

  • Assist with grooming and feeding the horses.
  • Muck stalls, clean equipment, and keep the barn, volunteer lounge and bathroom clean and organized.
  • Possibly help with “Introduction to Horsemanship” programs, answer questions from visitors, and help host special events.
  • Assist, when needed, with maintenance, such as mending fences, painting, and pulling weeds.

Additional Requirements

  • Complete a District volunteer application.
  • Attend a mandatory orientation, and complete 16 hours of training, which covers related responsibilities and safety in the stable.

Description
Volunteering Office Support involves responding to questions and requests for information at the Danada Equestrian Center's Office.

Basic Responsibilities*

  • Greet and assist facility visitors and staff. Take phone messages. Answer questions from facility visitors.

  • Utilize word processing, database, and spreadsheet software packages for a variety of projects. Operate a variety of office equipment.

  • Maintain calendars. Assist with special events.

Additional Requirements

  • Complete the District volunteer application process.
  • Volunteer Horse-care Provider for one year, or equivalent training through Danada.
