St. James Farm volunteers share the discovery of this former McCormick family retreat, which features equestrian and dairy buildings, International Harvester artifacts, artistic sculptures, and exceptional natural areas and trails.

Volunteering involves caring for District gardens, while providing a safe, informative and enjoyable experience to facility visitors.
Basic Responsibilities*
- Maintain the gardens at St. James Farm by weeding, planting, mulching, seeding and other common gardening tasks.
- Assist in educating the facility visitors.
- Maintain the appearance of the facility. Cut brush.
- Assist with special events related to St. James Farm and the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Volunteer researchers work with all aspects relating to St. James Farm, including, but not limited to, research relating to the DuPage County farming and dairy producing community, the county’s and St. James Farm’s equestrian presence, and key information about the property and supplementation of the Jean L. Guarino research on the McCormick Family. The research will be broken down into manageable projects focusing on interests and research significance.

- Write and research interpretive materials. Write reports.
- Attend and present information at meetings and special events.
