Make a Pine Cone Bird Feeder
When it gets cold, birds that don't migrate, or fly south for the winter, need to eat more frequently to keep warm. Unfortunately, there's not as much food available in winter as there is during the warmer months. You can help feed the birds by making a pine cone bird feeder.
You will need:
- Large Pine Cone
- Wax Paper
- Peanut Butter
- Birdseed
- Butter Knife
- Three Feet of String
First, place a sheet of wax paper on a flat surface and cover it with birdseed. Next, using a butter knife, spread the peanut butter all over your pine cone, making sure to fill in the gaps. Roll your peanut butter-coated pine cone around in the birdseed you have placed on the wax paper. After the pine cone is coated with the birdseed, tie one end of the string to the top of the pine cone and the other to a tree branch in your yard. Lastly, sit back in the cozy warmth of your home and watch the birds flock to your feeder!
