HIRING SALARY:

$7.75 - $9.25 per hour. Some positions may require additional education and/or experience, which may warrant a higher pre-professional pay rate.

SEASONAL POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
(includes location and hours)

Administrative Headquarters (Wheaton)

Office work at Wheaton Headquarters. Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and part-time, variable schedule.

Danada Equestrian Center (Wheaton)

Basic farm and stable chores. Assists with lesson program. Fence building and painting. Camp Counselor for weekday summer camp program. Prefer skill in horse handling. Fence building experience a plus. Variable schedule including weekends.

Fleet Services - Churchill Shop (Lombard) or Blackwell Shop (West Chicago)

Vehicle maintenance. Assists mechanics in the repair of vehicles and equipment, washes vehicles and equipment, repairs tires and assists in body shop projects. Day starts at 7:00 am, Monday through Friday.

 

Golf Enterprise (Oak Meadows and Maple Meadows Golf Courses in Addison)

Apply in person at Oak Meadows Golf and Banquet facility, 900 N. Wood Dale Rd., Addison.

Grounds Maintenance (Blackwell Shop in West Chicago)

Grounds Maintenance (various crews). Mostly mowing of lawns, some tree nursery work, cultivating, pruning, weeding and brush chipping. Day starts as early as 6:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.

  

Kline Creek Farm (Timber Ridge preserve in Winfield)

An educational facility depicting the agricultural practices and farm life of the 1890's. Full-time pre-professional Interpreter. (See job openings in pre-professional seasonal positions.)

Mayslake (Peabody Estate in Oak Brook)

Perform a variety of outdoor field tasks; cleaning indoors, weeding, watering plants; wedding and special event setup / take down; de-littering projects. Weekdays start at 8:00 a.m. with a 4 hour shift on the weekend, according to the wedding schedule.

 

Natural Resources (Administrative Headquarters in Wheaton or Blackwell Nursery in West Chicago)

Full-time pre-professional Entomology Intern. (See job openings in pre-professional seasonal positions and internships.) Also, positions to herbicide, restore and maintain natural areas and native plant nursery.

Site Operations (East Division - Churchill preserve in Lombard)

Grounds and trail maintenance, including de-littering preserves. Day starts at 5:30 a.m. Variable schedule including every other weekend and holidays.

Site Operations (West Division - Blackwell preserve in West Chicago)

Working the campground, concession and boat rental operations and also grounds maintenance (see previous listing), public relations, etc. Day may start as early as 5:30 a.m.; typically at 7:00 a.m.

Structural Maintenance (Blackwell Shop - West Chicago)

Work encompasses the areas of painting, roofing, sign construction, fence and gate work, plumbing, wall work, welding and electrical work. Assists tradesmen as necessary. Day starts at 7:00 am, Monday through Friday.

Willowbrook Wildlife Center (Glen Ellyn)

Wildlife Keepers perform hands-on captive animal management including cleaning cages, dishes and laundry; preparing diets and feeds infant mammals and birds. Receptionists respond to inquiries from the public about nuisance, injured and orphaned wildlife. Transfers injured and young animals from the front desk to the clinic; assists the visiting public and performs routine office work. Naturalist will assist staff with summer youth clubs, casual visitors and exhibit and sign maintenance. Day starts anywhere from 7:00 - 8:30 a.m. and includes weekends.
