Reservable Areas

Family Camping

Blackwell Forest Preserve's family campground offers campers a choice of locations in wooded and semi-wooded sites. Of the 60 sites available, about half are suitable for motor homes and trailers.

Each campsite includes a gravel parking pad, fire grill and picnic table. Latrines, shower building with flush toilets, water pumps, refuse and recycling containers are also within easy walking distance. Some sites offer electricity for an additional fee. Firewood can be purchased at the campground entrance. The preserve also features boating, fishing and hiking.

Family campsites allow a maximum of eight people per site and two tents per site.

The campground is open weekends only May through mid-October. Additional nights are available during holiday weekends. For more information, visit our camping page.

Youth Camping

The District offers a variety of sites for youth groups to camp. Organized youth groups are defined as follows: organized with by-laws; have Articles of Incorporation on file with the Secretary of State; insured on forest preserve property; leaders must be 21 or older; youths must be 17 or under; and groups must maintain a leader/youth ratio of 1:10 for the duration of their stay. The campgrounds are semi-private camping areas for tent camping only. Fire rings, picnic tables and a limited supply of firewood are available at all sites. Campsites have latrines, refuse and recycling containers and water pumps nearby. For more information, visit our camping page.
