Snow Tubing Down Blackwell's Mount Hoy

When a three-inch blanket of snow covers Blackwell's Mt. Hoy, snow tubers can take a thrilling ride down the hillside. To check current hill conditions, please call the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's hotline The Outdoor Report at (630) 871-6422. District inner tubes are the only devices that may be used on Mt. Hoy.
Tubes are rented on weekends and school holidays from December through February at the base of Mt. Hoy for $4 per tube, per day. Tubing hours are between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., with the last tube rental at 3:30 p.m.
All winter sport activities are at the visitor's own risk. Toboggans are prohibited on Mt. Hoy. Snowmobiles are prohibited on DuPage County Forest Preserve property or the protection of wildlife and the safety of all preserve users. The District no longer has a designated area for ice skating. However, preserve visitors may ice skate on any DuPage County forest preserve lake, except at Spring Creek Reservoir Forest Preserve in Bloomingdale. As a guideline, not a rule, at least four inches of ice are recommended for any ice activity. Ice conditions are not monitored by rangers, so all ice-related activities are done at the user's own risk.
