Investing in Our Future
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has a vision of the future. Green corridors where wildlife thrives and spirits soar on the wings of hawks. Open spaces filled with blossoming wildflowers, native grasses, and forests of oaks proudly standing as a symbol of the community's vitality. Your organization can help ensure this future by "lending a limb" as a corporate sponsor.
Every day the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County strives to preserve the little remaining open space and to restore the diversity of life native to Illinois. Our reasons are simple. We want to guarantee generations to come the chance to be spellbound by prairie grasses waving in the wind and to be captivated by the colors of a forest in fall.
But we cannot do it alone. To truly flourish, there must be a collaborative effort -- one in which corporate involvement is critical. There are many, varied sponsorship opportunities within the preserves, all of which are exciting but, perhaps more importantly, very necessary.
As a wise frog named Kermit once mused, "it's not easy being green." Your organization can help ensure a green future by becoming a corporate sponsor. We're sure it will be the most rewarding investment you will ever make.
Ever since the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County was founded in 1915, staff and commissioners have been working to "preserve our roots" both ecologically and historically. Our mission is one of conservation, education, and recreation. We know that to realize our vision, we must be true to our mission. Because all three parts of our mission are equally important to the successful future of DuPage County's open spaces, vast sponsorship opportunities are available in each area. All it takes is a telephone call to begin your journey to a unique sponsorship tailored to your organization's needs.
Conservation
Without conservation programs, our natural areas may pass from our view without even a nod of recognition for all they have given us. The Forest Preserve District is working to change this trend in a variety of unique and exciting ways.
Natural areas restoration is the primary focus of our conservation and preservation activities. Unless a habitat remains for wildlife, wildlife conservation efforts will be futile. Proudly, the Forest Preserve District not only offers a continually improving home for wildlife, but also offers programs for its rehabilitation and conservation. By supporting these natural resource management programs, your organization can become a partner in preservation.
Education
Education is an essential piece of the conservation puzzle. Unless the community -- young and old -- understands the importance of natural areas, the needs of its inhabitants, and how to successfully live with nature in urban areas, conservation efforts are doomed.
The Forest Preserve District has developed several programs and educational resources to help teach the public about DuPage County's open spaces and the wildlife they support. By contributing to these educational efforts, your organization can help open spaces, open minds.
Recreation
The recreational opportunities intrinsic to forest preserves are astounding. Nature has a special ability to encourage both group activities and hikes alone on wooded paths. It offers a place of respite and quiet solitude as well as outlets for courageous adventure.
Perhaps the greatest sense of togetherness inspired by the Forest Preserve District is represented by the numerous special events presented each year. By sponsoring a special event or contributing to other recreational resources, your organization can help foster a spirit of community while providing a healthy source of relaxation.
When you invest in the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, you not only invest in the quality of life of all species of living in DuPage County, but you also distinguish your organization as one that cares about the environment and about improving the community that we share. The future begins now. Won't you answer the call of the wild?
