Forest Preserve District Brings Big Fish to the DuPage County Fair
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County joined the 2008 DuPage County Fair this year, from Wednesday, July 23 through Sunday, July 27. The District’s exhibit, “Aquatic DuPage,” a 4,000-gallon aquarium took a closer look at some of the species of fish found in DuPage.
The exhibit is part of the “Ag-Ventureland” area dedicated to DuPage County’s aquatic creatures. Special presentations by local experts took place throughout each day.
Kline Creek Farm, the District’s 1890s living-history farm, takes part in the fair’s livestock competition, and shows several of the farm’s Southdown sheep. With much of their care provided by volunteers, Kline Creek Farm animals have earned numerous honors at state and county fairs. Kline Creek Farm staff and volunteers also help demonstrate agricultural activities such as butter churning, and historic equipment from the farm’s collection.
